About us:
Kia Kori Waitaha was established in 2021 upon recognising a need within our local communities for opportunities to engage in active play in safe & supportive environments.
Our activations are guided & led by the creativity and energy of our tamariki and rangatahi. Through our holistic approach students are building essential life skills.
Kia Kori is committed to laying the groundwork to provide opportunities so our participants can embrace the importance of fun, imagination, and cooperation.

Foster belonging and inclusion by creating active play programmes that remove barriers for diverse rangatahi.
Our supporters:
We work in collaboration with the North-West Collective which is made up of 11 different organisations. Our member community organisations are located in the Christchurch suburbs of Belfast, Shirley, Papanui and Bishopdale.
Kia Kori Waitaha is also partnered with Canterbury Cricket Association & collaborates often over the cricket season.
Funding Partners:
Kia Kori Waitaha is only successful because of the funding support we receive. We really appreciate the organisations who see the value in what we do, so we can continue to deliver free/low cost programs & activations.
If you would like to support or help fund Kia Kori Waitaha please contact us, we’d love to hear from you.

Nope! We also work with different community groups to provide after school activations and run holiday programmes in collaboration with other organisations.

Our long term goal is to deliver activations right across Canterbury, but we are starting out in the North-west, once we have built our foundations here we will look to expand and activate other areas.

Kia Kori Waitaha is run through a student-led approach. So we will listen to what people want to do and give them the equipment, space & guidance to do what they like! This can sometimes be specific sports, active recreation games or just PLAY!!
